A love language is the way a person most naturally gives and receives love. The idea comes from Dr. Gary Chapman's 1992 book The 5 Love Languages. Knowing yours, and your partner's, helps you show love in a way they actually feel.
The five love languages are Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Physical Touch and Receiving Gifts. Most people have one or two that matter far more to them than the rest.
The four temperaments are Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic and Phlegmatic. It is one of the oldest personality models, going back to Hippocrates. Your temperament shapes your energy, how you handle conflict and what you need from a partner.
The quick test takes about 6 minutes (38 questions) and the deep test about 11 minutes (68 questions). Answer honestly and go with your first instinct rather than how you wish you were.
Often it is not a lack of love but a mismatch. One partner shows love through acts of service while the other needs words or time, or a fast-moving Choleric clashes with a careful Melancholic. Seeing both temperaments and love languages side by side shows where the friction comes from.
